Journaling is such a wonderful habit to have, and I can't express how much it has transformed my life. Here are a few things to bear in mind if you don't know where to begin or haven't yet put pen to paper. I'll also give some simple instructions for setting up and reviewing your account.
your journal does not have to be perfect. only you will be seeing it, so forget about trying to make it look in order. i feel like we are conditioned to think “what will others think about this” even if we are doing something for ourselves. nobody is going to see it, so personalize it completely.
You are not required to adhere to any regulations. If you feel like it, you can add stickers and colorful markers at any time. If you merely want to write one sentence the next day, go ahead and do so. The purpose of journaling is to notice and record your experiences and emotions while remaining true to yourself.
- it takes about a month to create a habit, commit every single day for 30 days whether its writing a whole page or just a couple of sentences. soon it will become a part of your routine.
here are some simple prompts to get you started :
for the morning :
- to do list
- what am i grateful for this morning?
- what do i give myself permission to do today?
- what do i want to accomplish or get out of today?
- how can i practice self love today?
- how can i practice loving others today?
for the evening :
- what went well today?
- what am i proud of today?
- what strengths have i used today?
- what was challenging today? how can i better face these things?
- what have i learned today?
- what did i do to practice kindness to self and others today?
